Beverly Heger
November 18, 1940 ~ March 18, 2024 (age 83) 83 Years Old
Beverly “Bev” A. Heger, 83, of Longmeadow, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, March 18, 2024. She was born on November 18, 1940, to the late Harry and Viola Levine of Mount Vernon, New York. She was predeceased by her brothers Ed, Bob (both WWII veterans) Al, and sister Betty, and survived by her brother Charlie, Vietnam Special Forces veteran. Bev graduated from Hunter College with a BA in Education and later received her Master of Education from Westfield College. Her love of education spanned over 32 years. Many of her teaching years were as a 6th grade team member at Williams Middle School, located in Longmeadow, MA. She specialized in English, writing composition, and literature. Bev was consistently applauded by her students as their most revered teacher and complimented their success to her unwavering expectations of excellence. Bev met her beloved husband Peter, while they both worked summers at Jones Beach, 66 years ago. They married in 1962, raising their two loving sons, while Peter served three tours in Vietnam, as a B-52 Navigator, in USAF Strategic Air Command. In addition to her husband, Bev leaves behind two sons and their families. Peter, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Longmeadow, MA. and Gregory and his wife Kirstin of Dedham, MA. She was a loving Nana to her three grandchildren; Jake and his wife Chrissy of Newbury, MA., Jillian and Luke both of Dorchester, MA. and two great grandchildren Olivia and Noah. In retirement, Bev traveled with her loving husband and vacationed at their home in St. Croix, USVI. There she made lifetime friends, enjoyed the island cultures, and loved to attend services at Lord God of Sabaoth Lutheran Church. Bev will be remembered as a long-term parishioner of St Andrew’s Church, loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that had impeccable fashion, wardrobe, and jewelry. Bev’s private inurnment will be followed by a public service at St Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Longmeadow, MA, on April 27, 2024 @ 11am. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Bev’s memory to the Arthritis Foundation (https://info.arthritis.org), St. Andrew’s Church (https://st-andrews-longmeadow.org) or the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (www.mabvi.org). Though we have lost Bev, she will always live in our hearts and minds which are full of her love, kindness, and grace.
