Dorothy Rose D'Agostino

January 30, 1928 ~ April 23, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old
Dorothy Rose (Raposa) D’Agostino, 89, affectionately known to many as Dot, Muz, or Muzzy, peacefully ascended into the journey of everlasting life on April 23, 2017 to be with the love of her life, her beloved Bob, who she lost on April 25, 2016. Born and raised in East Providence, Rhode Island, Dot married Bob in 1947 and started their 68 year marriage in Springfield, MA at Springfield College. Bob completed his degrees with the love and unending support of Dot. They moved to Middlebury, VT and stayed until Bob and Dot moved to Longmeadow, MA to settle and raise their family. Over the years Dot worked many secretarial positions starting at Monarch Life Insurance Co. and as her children grew she worked in the front office of various Longmeadow Schools. After, she became a credit investigator for many years. She concluded her careers as a “Kelly Girl” working at many different companies. Dot was a strong, warm, intelligent and incredibly funny woman. Her family came first and whenever they gathered it was around her. She was always “the life of the party.” She rejoiced in being with her kids and grandkids, whether it be in the back yard or on the beaches of Cape Cod with her many nieces and nephews. While we will all mourn her passing, we also celebrate that she is with her Bob. They truly shared one heart, one mind, and we know they are jitterbugging in heaven. She leaves her children, Robert M. D’Agostino, Jr. of New York; Curtis D’Agostino and wife Brenda, of Colorado, and their children, Amanda, Jessica, Erica, Derrick, Payton and their granddaughter Emery; Donna (D’Agostino) Abbe and husband Eddie, of East Windsor, CT and their children, E.J. and his wife Chrissy and Kimberly Rose. Dot also leaves her 2 sisters and spouses, Joan and Ray Ross and Ruth and Bob DeGrace of Cape Cod; and a brother in law, Tex Caldwell and his wife Becky, of Texas. She also leaves many nieces and nephews whom she cherished and to whom she was lovingly called "Auntie Dot".  She was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Harriet D’Agostino of Rhode Island. The family would like to thank all the staff at Wingate of East Longmeadow for their compassionate and respectful care during her final years. They were not only her caregivers, but her friends and they will never be forgotten. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am – 10:00 am, on Thursday, May 11th, in the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral and Cremation, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow.  Ceremonies will begin in the funeral home at 10:00 am to be followed by 11:00 am Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 519 Longmeadow St., Longmeadow. Burial will follow in Longmeadow Cemetery, (corner of Williams and Longmeadow Streets) Longmeadow. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10305. www.forastiere.com
