Frances M Silvestri

SPRINGFIELD - Frances M. Silvestri, 90, formerly of Springfield and Charlestown, RI, passed away on May 24, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield, MA on September 11, 1926 to the late Peter and Beatrice (LaBranche) Profiglio, she was a 1944 graduate of Springfield Technical High School. She worked for many years at Baystate Medical Center and Wesson Memorial as an ECG Technician and Supervisor. During World War II, she would sew uniforms for the nurse cadets. Frances enjoyed knitting, playing bingo, painting ocean scenes, and loved to cook Italian food for her family. For many years, she was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Springfield and was active in the choir, PTA, and Mt. Carmel School. She will be fondly remembered for her sweet, thoughtful and giving nature, and for her love of her family and animals. Predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Arnold L. Silvestri who passed away in 1995, she leaves her devoted children Dianne Fiorentino and her husband Larry of Agawam, Linda Silvestri and her husband Larry Valliere and Larry Silvestri and his wife Mary all of Henderson, NV; grandchildren Karen Machnacz and her husband Joe, Gina Morin and her husband Kevin, Larry Michael Valliere, Nicholas Silvestri, Angela Silvestri-Elmore and her husband Brent, and Katie Silvestri; great grandchildren Gabby, Anthony, Brianna, Nathan, Scarlett, and Addison; sister Marie Douthwright and her husband Raymond of FL; many nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving caregivers. She will also be deeply missed by her loving pets. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main Street, Agawam, MA. Family and friends may gather from 9-10 AM at the funeral home. Services at the funeral home are followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, Main Street, Agawam. Committal services will take place at St. Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
