Lorraine Stone

Lorraine Ann Cebula Stone, age 84 of Hampden, MA, passed away on Saturday March 9, 2024. She was born in Chicopee, MA, August 1, 1939 to Adolph and Esther Cebula.

Lorraine graduated from Chicopee High in 1956 with honors, then attended Elms College, graduating in 1960. She did a residency at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MA and then moved to Syracuse, NY to continue her residency at St Joseph's Hospital.  It was there she met her estranged/late husband, Dr Ward B. Stone, a Wildlife Pathologist with NYSDEC. They moved after completing her residency and adopting a daughter in 1966, Denise K. Stone, to Albany, NY, where she worked in Cancer research at St. Peter's Hospital and later retired from Albany Medical Center in 2014 as Supervisor of Hematology.

In between many hours working in her chosen field and assisting her husband in his chosen field, she had many interests and passions. She was a scientist, an environmentalist and champion of all animals, plants and living things. As her husband was a Wildlife Pathologist for NY State, she had ample opportunities to rehabilitate assorted Wildlife, with her daughter, most being released back into the wild.

Another passion was reading and learning and spending endless hours at the local libraries. Other interests included gardening, assorted art classes and projects,  making Ukrainian Eggs, flower arranging,  quilting and becoming a certified yoga instructor from Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, MA.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Denise Kristin Stone of Hampden, MA. She was loved by the many people whose lives she touched. She will be hugely missed by everyone.

Lorraine requested Cremation with no services and her ashes to be spread at a later time.
