Marian Mae Bradford

December 13, 1923 ~ February 23, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Marian M. (Haseltine) Bradford, (December 13,1923 – February 23, 2017) West Springfield, formerly of Southwick, died peacefully in her sleep. She was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Army stationed in Labrador. She worked at the Feeding Hills Post Office for 20 years before retiring in 1993. She was active at Mittineague Congregational Church and still visited her home church, Southwick Congregational whenever possible.

Marian lived a full and active life.  At one time, she ran a restaurant in Southwick, the “Lazy Bee Ranch”. In her early married years, she was an active square dancer, and in her later years she took up line dancing at several local senior centers. She loved camping and traveled extensively in the US including a cruise to Alaska. She belonged to the Blandford Ski Club. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, on the board of the Rainbow Girls for many years and hosted many Shriner events with her husband at their home in Southwick. She was an amazing cook and decorated cakes and when her husband began a peach orchard at their Southwick home, her fresh peach pie was without compare. She was a whiz at crossword puzzles, doing two a day for many years. She was an artist of many talents, painting with oils and acrylics into her 90s. She was also an avid crafter, crocheting, sewing and otherwise creating innumerable gifts for family and friends. She created amazing Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. In her later years she became an avid Red Sox fan. Above all was her love of family.

She was predeceased by her husband Ralph in 2003 and her son George “Brad” Bradford in 2010. She leaves behind two daughters, Diane Tremaine and her husband David of Beaver Dams, NY and Kathy Glista and her husband Bob, whom she lived with in W. Spfld. She also leaves her grandchildren Kelly Glista-Anderson (Nick), David Glista and Michael Crafsic, USN, (Cathy) and her one great grandchild their son Christopher. She was the oldest of 13 children who grew up in Agawam. She was predeceased by her parents; Marian (Richardson) and Costello Haseltine and six of her siblings; Ross Haseltine. Ralph Haseltine, Alice Greenmiller, Lauretta Turcotte, Violet St. Peter and Eileen Anderson. She is survived by her siblings; Richard Haseltine of Westfield, Robert Haseltine (Vera), Raymond Haseltine (Rene), Shirley Freeman, Marjorie Lawson and Barbara Turner of FL and many nieces and nephews. Marian was an energetic and friendly person and had many friends from around the area and she will be missed.

Marian supported many charities and was pleased that her granddaughter Kelly has run in the “Run to Home Base” every year since its inception. Run to Home Base is a unique and special event that brings together her love of the Red Sox and her support of our veterans. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to this run at:http://www.runtohomebase.org/2017RuntoHomeBase/kellyglista , or a charity of your choice.
