Michela Daniele

Springfield – Michela Daniele, beloved wife of the late Leontino Daniele, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 17, 2017 in the comfort of her home. Born in Bracigliano, Province of Salerno, Italy on September 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Carmine and Maria Rosa (Amabile) Rescigno. Michela met Leontino after he finished his service in the Military and they instantly fell in love. They married in 1957 and enjoyed 60 wonderful years of marriage before Leontino passed away on March 25, 2017. In 1968, they immigrated to the United States with their children and settled in Springfield.
Michela enjoyed gardening and baking, but her love and passion was her family. She had the privilege of raising her children and grandchildren and always opened her home and her heart to anyone in need. A woman with a heart of gold, the matriarch of the family, Michela will be dearly missed by so many family and friends.
Michela is survived by her daughters, Giovanna Ferrentino, Rosetta and her husband Joseph Piecuch, Edda and her husband Mario Johnson, Louise and her husband William Deuso; her pride and joy, her 9 grandchildren, Mario, Frank, Anna and her husband Filipe, Leontino, Michelina, Stephanie, Michael, Jessica, and Ariana; her great-grandson, Maximus; her sisters, Italia Calabrese, Lucia Basile, Andonetta Santaniello, and Arbenia Murona; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Edda and Nick Caputo; and her sister-in-law, Louise Daniele; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by 4 siblings, Giuseppe Rescigno, Anna Albano, Maria Santaniello, and Archangela DeNardo.
Her family will receive friends on Thursday, July 20th from 6-9 PM at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Her Funeral will begin on Friday, July 21st at 8:45 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Springfield.
