Springfield – Rosalie Eleanor Moran, 81, passed away on January 14, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born in New York City on September 22, 1936, one of 6 children born to the late James and Margaret (Farrell) Moran. Rosalie worked as a housekeeper at the College of Good Counsel in White Plains, NY. She loved her large family and especially her nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She enjoyed reading, watching sports and soap operas. She took great pride in her volunteer work at the lunch service at Baystate Place Apts., Springfield, where she resided. She leaves her brother, Lewis “Tony” Moran and his wife Amparo of Longmeadow, her sister-in-law, Nydia B. Moran of San Juan, Puerto Rico, her Godchild and niece Elaine Sullivan of Bellingham, MA, 13 other nieces and nephews and 21 grand-nieces and grand-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, James Moran Jr. and his wife Pauline, Barbara Moran Sullivan and her husband Dennis, Thomas Moran, her twin sister, Honore Moran and her niece Teresa Moran. Rosalie’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 23rd beginning at 11AM in Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, Longmeadow at 12PM. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A visiting hour will precede the funeral from 10-11AM at the funeral home.
