Ada Ann Ball
February 20, 1941 ~ September 6, 2021 (age 80) 80 Years Old
Ada A. Ball 1941-2021 Springfield- Ada A. (Murphy) 80, beloved wife of Jeffrey Ball, passed away on September 6, 2021; surrounded by her loving family. Ada was born and raised on Hungry Hill and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She was a daughter of the late Walter and Edna (Lindsay) Murphy. She retired from the Diocese of Springfield; previously having been employed as a teacher’s aide for the Springfield Public Schools. In addition, Ada worked at the former Mercy Hospital as an EKG Technician. For more than a decade, until it’s’ closure, Ada was a principal part of Our Lady of Hope Church’s RCIA Program. She was awarded the Pope Pius X Award for her dedicated work to initiate non-Catholics into the Catholic Church. Following the closure of Our Lady of Hope, Ada became a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church, East Longmeadow where she served as a Eucharistic minister. Ada was an avid reader who also enjoyed antiquing, traveling (especially to Cape Cod), and hosting family events. Her favorite activity was to be the number one spectator at her grandchildren’s sporting and school events. In addition to her husband, Ada is survived by a son, David Kent and his wife Janine of Hampden; three daughters, Patty Bouvier and husband David of East Longmeadow, Paula Murphy and husband John of Ludlow, LeeAnn Langone and husband Anthony of Wilbraham; one brother, Thomas Murphy and wife Rose of Monson; one sister, Joyce Durkan and husband Thomas of Egg Harbor, New Jersey; nine grandchildren, Patrick, Nicholas and Lauren Bouvier, Matthew and Zachary Kent, Jack and Bridget Murphy, Ben and Peter Langone; 2 great grandchildren, Cole Bouvier and Rayna Kent. Ada also leaves behind many beloved lifelong friends. Besides her parents, Ada was predeceased by her first husband Leo J. Kent in 1985; five sisters, Mona, Roberta, Edna, Barbara, Joan; three brothers, Paul, Daniel and Robert. Family and friends may gather from 4:00PM-8:00PM, on Monday Sept. 13, 2021 at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Funeral services will begin at 9:30AM on Tuesday Sept. 14, 2021 from the funeral home. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30AM at St. Michael’s Church, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow. Ada will be laid to rest in St. Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State St., Springfield.
