Albert Philip Laro
1939 – 2021
East Longmeadow- Albert Philip Laro, 82, passed away on September 16, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Stafford Springs CT on January 1, 1939 to the late Joseph and Mary (Patterson) Laro. As a young man Albert was active in sports, and after graduating Springfield Tech, he bravely entered in to the Army National Guard. He was honorably discharged and ranked as a sharpshooter. Albert found work as a well driller for CT Valley and stayed there for 60 years until his retirement. He continued his love of sports and was excited to watch baseball, car racing and hockey. He was a member of the Elks Lodge # 61, and he made many friends there and everywhere he went with whom he enjoyed to spend time with. He was a happy-go-lucky man, loved crossword puzzles, and he held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren he loved to spend time with. In addition to his parents, Albert was predeceased by his wife of 61 years and lifelong best friend Jacquelyn “Jackie” (Gerow) Laro in 2020.
Albert leaves behind his two daughters Tammy Ames Leclerc and her husband James and Theresa Vester, his grandchildren Tabitha Bissonnette and her partner Jeremy Miner, Brandy Aiken and her husband Ryan and Jed Campbell, six great-grandchildren Nate, Cheyenne, Savannah, Lexi and Bryce, his brother George Laro, his sisters Catherine Sullivan, Linda Zeiler and her husband Bob and Debbie Adams, and many close family and friends he made throughout the years.
Calling hours will be on Sunday September 26, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM in Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 N. Main St., East Longmeadow MA. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 AM. The family invites all to attend a memorial lunch in Albert’s honor, following the service, at the Springfield Elks Lodge, 440 Tiffany St. in Springfield.
