Obituary

East Longmeadow- Bridget M. (DeAngelo) Mineo, 93, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2019 at CareOne at Redstone. Bridget was born in Springfield on July 15, 1926 to the late Joseph and Mary (Simone) DeAngelo. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1944, and soon after Bridget married her love Thomas and raised her family. Bridget was a devout Catholic and served the Springfield Diocese as a secretary, working at many parishes including St. Paul’s and St. Patrick’s where she was a communicant. She was a past member of the ITAM Vets Post 64 Woman’s Auxillary. She was a sweet, kind and loving mother who took care of everyone and would help anyone in need. She was a true Italian mom, cooking Sunday dinners and making her famous meatballs. She will be deeply missed by her 3 sons Thomas J. Mineo Jr. of Bradenton FL, Michael Mineo and his wife Barbara-Ann of West Springfield MA, and James Mineo and his girlfriend Heather Garrow of East Longmeadow MA, her 3 grandchildren Thomas Mineo, Jesselynn Mineo and her wife Kim, and Anthony Mineo, her cousin Anna Simone DiElsi, her best friend of 72 years Tina Gallerani, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband Thomas J. Mineo Sr., her 5 brothers Frank, Fred, Vic, Joe and Sandy, and her daughter-in-law Kathleen Dale Mineo. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at CareOne at Redstone for all their kindness and dedicated care of Bridget. Family and friends are invited to gather Monday December 16, 2019 from 10-12pm in the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow MA. A funeral service will follow at 12pm. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bridget’s name to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield MA 01104 or St. Jude’s, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-1905.
