Carolyn M. Christina

East Longmeadow – Carolyn M. (Muscarella) Christina, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday August 10, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in New London, CT to the late Sebastian and Emma (Petrini) Muscarella. Carolyn was employed at WT Grant and Hermitage Co. for many years and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Parish in New London, CT. She spent her winters in Orlando, FL with her late husband, Frank and enjoyed playing tennis as well as crocheting, quilting and volunteering at the local schools. But most of all, Carolyn loved her family dearly. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Frank F. Christina in 2004 and by her brothers, James Muscarella and Nicholas Muscarella and his wife Anna. She is survived by her four daughters, Diane Celentano and her husband Peter of Chesterfield, NH, Rosemary Meister and her husband Kevin of Okeechobee, FL, Kathy Merrill and her husband David of East Longmeadow and Donna Bateman of Waterford, CT; her brother, Sebastian Muscarella of Norwich, CT; her sister, Elizabeth Thompson of Uncasville, CT; sister-in-law, Helen Muscarella of Quaker Hill, CT; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Brennan Vidinha, Tara Celentano, Tia Celentano and her husband Jimmy Cripe, Keith Merrill, Thomas Bateman, MD, Nicholas Merrill and his wife Danielle, Nicole Bateman and Christina Bateman; three great-grandchildren, Sean and Andrew Vidinha and William Elwood, two great-grandchildren on the way and many nieces and nephews. A private funeral mass with interment in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery will be held for the immediate family. Memorial donations may be made in Carolyn’s memory to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104-2396 or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
