Douglas F. Averill

January 4, 1969 ~ May 9, 2019 (age 50) 50 Years Old

Obituary

A native of Agawam, Douglas F. Averill, 50, passed away unexpectedly at home on May 9th, 2019. Doug attended Agawam High School and graduated with the class of 1988. That July he began what would be thirty-one years as a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 63. For most of his tenure he worked for Kleeberg Sheet Metal as a Journeyman and Forman. He had immense pride and joy in the projects and work he completed throughout New England.

Doug also had numerous hobbies, many of which involved some form of activity. He was an avid snowmobiler since he was young. Doug was also dedicated to living a healthy lifestyle, which both involved eating right and lifting weights. His love for the outdoors also was shown when he purchased his first home, as he would spend hours landscaping and mowing his lawn.

Also, Doug enjoyed fishing with friends as well as sitting on his deck listening to nature.

In October of 2009, Doug met Sara, and the peace ended. Shortly after they began dating, Doug supported getting a dog, preferably a large dog, and Brutus Bronson, a Bullmastiff, would be the start of their family together. Porsche, their second Bullmastiff, joined them five months later. Doug loved to take them in his truck when he ran out for errands. Doug and Sara married on June 30th, 2012 and three years later welcomed their first set of twins, Travis and Olivia, into the world on February 20th, 2015. One year later, on March 5th 2016, their second set of twins, Colby and Trevor, were born completing their happy, healthy and lively family.

Doug is survived by his wife, Sara Averill; four young children Travis, Olivia, Colby, and Trevor; and his father Richard Averill and girlfriend Sue Stratton of Northport, FL. He also leaves his brothers Todd Davis of Suffield, CT; Rob Averill of Northborough, MA; and Kyle Averill of Agawam; and their spouses. He is also survived by his nephew, Jacob Averill of Agawam, MA; Uncle Allen and Aunt Judy Beaprue of Milton, VT; and his Godmother Donna Cote of Turners Falls, MA.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Averill.
