Eileen DiSantis

Springfield- Eileen T. DiSantis, 88, devoted wife of 65 years to the late Alfonso “Cookie” A. DiSantis, Ascended into the Journey of Everlasting Life on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.
Born and educated in Springfield, Eileen was the daughter of the late Harvey and Gertrude (Sullivan) Gauthier. She was a lifelong resident of Springfield. Eileen was a lifetime parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and was an active member and Treasurer of the school’s P.T.A. Eileen enjoyed golf, bowling, BINGO, and family vacations to the beach.
Eileen will be missed by her two beloved daughters, Virginia Sims and Mary Lou Lusa both of Springfield; a cherished brother, Francis Gauthier and his wife Elaine of Florida; an adored granddaughter, Jamie Sims of Springfield; and many dear nieces and nephews. Eileen was predeceased by her dear siblings, Howard Gauthier, Earl Gauthier, John “Jack” Gauthier, Virginia Chelte-Poudrier ,Margaret Shea, and Richard Gauthier.
Her funeral services will begin at 8:00AM on Monday December 3, 2018 from the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place at 9:00AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 123 William St., Springfield. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
