Elvera Rose Forni

East Longmeadow – Elvera R. (Contro) Calegari Forni, 88, died peacefully on June 28, 2019 at Wingate of East Longmeadow. Elvera, the youngest daughter of John and Rose (Gallerani) Contro, was born on April 19, 1931. Elvera was a graduate of The High School of Commerce in Springfield, MA, and she worked for many years at Monarch Life Insurance Company. Elvera was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield, MA. Elvera’s faith and family brought her much joy and comfort throughout her life. In addition to her parents, Elvera was predeceased by her first husband, Private Ottavio B. Calegari in 1951 (KIA, Korea), and her husband of 42 years, Dominic A. Forni in 1994. Elvera was also predeceased by her siblings, Deloras Paglia, Gloria Farella, and John Contro. Elvera is survived by her loving children and their spouses, Richard (Mary) Forni, Debra (Keith) Lindner, and Sandra (Daniel) Torres; her grandchildren, Eric (Allison), Amy, Nicholas (Mia), Melissa, and Michelle; and her great grandchildren, Sophia, Dominic, Mary, and Rita. Funeral services for Elvera will begin at 9:00AM on Wednesday (July 3, 2019) from the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 123 William St., Springfield. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery 1601 State St., Springfield. The family will receive friends for a calling hour in the funeral home beginning at 8:00AM.
