Ernest A. Laffert

Granville - Ernest A. Laffert, 75, of Granville, died Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the Governor’s Center in Westfield. Born June 3, 1942 in Springfield, MA, he was the son of Mary and Ernest Laffert of East Longmeadow. He attended East Longmeadow schools graduating from Classical High School and subsequently served in the U.S. Navy from 1963-67. Following military service, he was employed by Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, CT in varying capacities for over 33 years. He worked in the Space & Sea Division on the space suit for the Apollo program, as well as working on rockets for the Peacekeeper Program. He was also employed in the Engineering Department and retired as a supervisor in Quality Control. Ernie is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara (Wiles) Laffert and two younger siblings, Michael Laffert and his wife Sharon of Hampden, MA, and Linda Cook of Barton, VT, as well as his 5 children, Erich and his wife Huong of Concord, CA, Brett of Eastford, CT, Scott and wife Vanessa of Woodstock, CT, Kate and her husband Jason of Chester, MA and Jason and wife Morgan of Homer, AK and 7 grandchildren: Brian, Sean, Evan, Adam, Eli, Zoe and Shea. Funeral services will begin at 9:15AM on Thursday, May 31 from Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Hwy., Southwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM in St. Mary’s Church, 30 Bartlett St., Westfield. Burial will follow in the West Granville Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, May 30 from 4-7PM at the funeral home.
