Obituary

West Springfield – It is with great sadness that the family of Francis “Frank” M. Zagura, Sr., announces his passing on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center. He will be remembered most for the love he had for his family and friends, especially his cherished grandchildren. He was supportive and profoundly proud of his family. Frank had a deep appreciation of music, playing the piano, and Musical Theater. He was an avid sports fan, especially for baseball where he was an umpire for many years for the Town of West Springfield. He enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots games. Frank enjoyed family vacations and traveling. He was fortunate to travel the country with his wife and son, where they journeyed to most of the fifty states. His faith and Polish heritage were an intricate part of Frank’s life. He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, for over fifty-seven years, before its closing in 2018. Frank had many talents and was a hard worker, always keeping busy. He worked primarily as a Custodian in the West Springfield Public Schools for over thirty-eight years.
Born in Rockville CT, Frank was the youngest of ten children of his parents, Michael and Sophia (Hudzik) Zagura. He was a graduate of Rockville High School and worked for U.S. Envelope for a few years before creating his legacy of his own family with his wife Carol (Taskey) Zagura, with whom he was married for fifty-nine years. He is also survived by his loving children: Frank M. Zagura, Jr. and his wife Angie of Feeding Hills, his daughters Toni Delore and her husband Pat of Agawam, and Kathy Rovatti and her husband Jeff of Feeding Hills; his six beloved grandchildren: Dominic and Amanda Delore, Jeffrey, Maryrose, Veronica and Felicity Rovatti; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his nine brothers and sisters.
To honor Frank, services will be on Saturday, September 19, 2020 beginning with visiting hours from 8:30-9:30am at Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation on 985 Main Street in Agawam, processing to Holy Trinity Church on 335 Elm Street in Westfield for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am.
