May 11, 1936 ~ August 5, 2019 (age 83) 83 Years Old
EAST LONGMEADOW – George R. Ammirato Sr., 83, passed away peacefully Monday, August 5, 2019. Born May 11, 1936 in Springfield, MA, he was a son to the late George F. and Bertha (Beaulieu) Ammirato. George served our country proudly with the US Air Force, and was later self-employed in the Trucking and Gas & Service Station industries. He is survived by his son George R. Ammirato Jr. of Agawam; daughters Cheryl Fuller of Westfield and Dina Slayton of Agawam; grandchildren Jamin, Brendan, Crysta and her husband, Tony, Ryan and Hannah; great-grandchildren Jamin, Collin and Emmalee. He also leaves his longtime companion Eleanor Jacobs and her family; his former wife Doris Ammirato; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Carol Ammirato. George’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at CareOne Redstone and Ascend Hospice for the exceptional care given to their father. A private family graveside service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made in George’s name to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 18th St. NW, Washington, DC 20006-3517.
