George J. Serafino

George Joseph Serafino, age 76, passed away on June 15th at Advent Health in Palm Coast FL. He was born on May 30, 1943 in Springfield and was the son of Josephine (Chene) Serafino and Antonio Serafino. George was a veteran and served his country in the United States Army. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Anita (Pietroniro) Serafino, his children Maria Serafino, Anthony Serafino and wife Julie, Anita Hurwitz and husband Mark, Donna Calvanese and husband Glenn, grandchildren Nicole, Briannah, Joey, Nicholas, Anthony, Alyssa, Dominic, Noah, Tia, Ethan, Aden and Avery and his great grandchild Marcus. He is also survived by his two brothers Donald Serafino and Richard Serafino, his godchild Debbie (Serafino) Caliento, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, George is predeceased by his son Philip Vivenzio and his sisters Jean Viecelli, Barbara DelNegro and Eleanor Farley.
George enjoyed fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his strength, generosity, his compassion and most of all the love he gave to his family. George lived his life selflessly and always put his family first. He helped anyone he could without ever asking for anything in return. His memory will live on through his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, and an incredible father and Papa to his grandchildren. He will be loved in death as he was in life and will be missed dearly. Services will begin with visiting hours on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 9:00-10:30am at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home in East Longmeadow, followed by a 11:30am Liturgy of Christian Burial in St Michael’s Church in East Longmeadow.
