Georgina Jones

Georgina Leslie Jones 83, known to loved ones as Jeannie Jones, died on November 14, 2020. Born in Greenfield, MA on May 7, 1937 to H. Alexander Leslie and Berniece “Bunny” Leslie, Jeannie had one sibling, John, who predeceased her in 2014. An artistic soul, she loved books and music. She attended UNC-Greensboro, receiving a degree in Physical Education in 1959 before beginning a career in youth work. She was a beloved fixture at Camp Mishnoah in Holland, MA, where her mother was Executive Director. Throughout her life she championed young people, and led hundreds of people to creativity and the power of the imagination. She held positions in youth education at the Dunbar Community Center and The Springfield Girls’ Club Family Center, where she ran the Tiny Tots program. She met her husband Arthur Jones in the mid-60s and they wed in 1968. She spent many years as a homemaker while also delving into work as a visual artist. She took great pride in the achievements of her two sons, Daniel, a performer and professor; and Todd, an Asian medicine practitioner. She is survived by her husband, sons, extended family members, and a vast network of friends whose lives she filled with her inspiring and inimitable sunshine.
