Janet B. Foley

July 23, 1933 ~ September 12, 2022 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Obituary

Janet (Brunetti) Foley, 89, of Agawam was Called Safely Home on Monday, September 12, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was born at home in West Springfield on July 23, 1933, the youngest daughter of the late Crescentino and Maria (Frulla) Brunetti. She grew up on “The Farm” in West Springfield with her two brothers and eight sisters whom she loved dearly. She graduated from West Springfield High School in 1952 where she played drums in the marching band and was voted “Most Attractive” in her class. Janet eventually settled in Chicopee for much of her life as a single mother to her beloved daughter, Lisa and their many cats. She worked as a bank teller for many years. She was a people person and bank patrons would often wait for her to be available rather than be helped by another teller. She later worked in the mortgage department and West Bank which she retired from in 1995. Janet always kept busy and took great pride in having an immaculately clean home. She loved to dust and everything from her furniture to her floors always shined. But life was not all work for Janet. She loved to crack jokes and have fun. She was known for making up silly words, which somehow caught on with members of her family. Music was very important to Janet. She sang the national anthem for her high school assemblies, was a member of the church choir, sang with her sisters and granddaughter at get-togethers, and could usually be heard humming a tune. She was a dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox and Patriots, often staying up late so she wouldn’t miss a moment. One would know how a game was going just from hearing her cheers from the next room. Janet was a beautiful person inside and out, willing to get to know just about anyone and never wanted anyone to feel badly or be upset. She was known to lend a listening ear and often shed a tear from shear empathy for those she cared for. She kept her hair and nails just so, often looking effortlessly beautiful with her simple style. Most of all, Janet deeply loved and was proud of her big Italian family. She was an adoring and dedicated mother, sister, aunt and Nonnie. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Richard “Dickie” Foley, her precious siblings Columbia, Albromo, Letitia, Elvera, Almerina, Raymond, Viola, Stella, Silvia, Louise, and Norma. She is survived by her devoted and caring daughter, Lisa (Brunetti) Booth, and her dear son-in-law Ian Booth, of Agawam; her two special grandchildren, Lauren Booth and her fiancé Michael Andre of Three Rivers, Brandon Booth of Agawam. Janet lived with her daughter and her family for the last 26 years of her life and was an important and loving member of their home. She is also survived by her many nieces, and nephews who she loved so dearly. Her family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of Janet’s dedicated caregivers Nadene, Brandon, Ian, Ray, Pat, Lenora, Christina, and Cecilia.
