Jeannette R. Sadak

November 29, 1930 ~ April 11, 2018 (age 87)

Jeannette R. Sadak, 87, of West Springfield, was called home on April 11, 2018 after a long illness. She was born in Springfield, on November 29, 1930 and spent most of her life in the Agawam and West Springfield area. She was predeceased by her parents Leo Rheaume and Blanche Castonguay of West Springfield.

Jeannette studied at St. Joseph’s school in Springfield before marrying her husband of 49 years, Fred Sadak. They were married in May 1952 and made their family shortly thereafter. Jeannette and her husband Fred owned and operated her family’s convenience store close to WS High School for nearly 50 years and are remembered by many students as well as their parents. She enjoyed greeting her customers daily at her neighborhood store, she was good with accounting, loved going to Bingo at Sacred Heart Church, day trips to Mohegan Sun, hosting family dinners, cooking Lebanese cuisine, and making French meat pies, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and walking her dogs.

Some secrets she left behind… use "real butter" in your batter when making crepes, Pond’s cold cream helped her to stay virtually wrinkle free, when making the Lebanese yogurt soup, “shish barak” it needs to be nice and sour and at least a week old to be “really good”, and practice patience and forgiveness every day. She was tough, yet soft… smart, humble, caring, loving, forgiving, generous, and above all, she always kept a positive attitude. Her light will shine down on us from Heaven every day.

She leaves her daughter, Denise Smith of Springfield, her son James and his wife Debra Sadak of West Springfield, 4 grandchildren … Dacia Lucas, Andrea Starke, Nicole Santos and Michael Sadak. She also leaves 4 great grandchildren… Tyler Ostrander, Olivia and Sophia Santos, and Michael Sadak Jr. She was predeceased by her husband Fred Sadak, her brother Steven Tesny, and her sister, Theresa Galus.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 10 AM – 12 PM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St. Agawam with a service to follow at 12 PM.
