John Alphonse Ferranti, 93, of Springfield, was escorted home by angels on January 29th to join his wife Cecile of 69 years; friends and family, classmates from Springfield `Classical ’47, Shriners from the Melha Clown Unit and his Marine crewmates on the USS Eldorado (AGC-11) whom he served with in Korea. John and Cecile will watch over their children and their families: John & Holly, Susanne & Bill (Kimmy, Tamara, Ella Mae, Jared), Jeff & Krishna (Carter, Alex) and Diane (Mark). They will also watch over the staff at JGS Ruth’s House and Leavitt Nursing home who treated them with great respect and dignity. John was born Dec. 2, 1929 in Springfield, MA to Angelo and Ida (Sassi) Ferranti. He was proud to serve his country and entertain children as a Shriner. He built homes with his Uncle J.J. and built restaurants during the expansion of Friendly’s and Papa Gino’s. His words to live by, “measure twice – cut once”, will not be forgotten. He will be interred with his wife Cecile at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam on Monday July 10,2023 at 3:00PM.
