Greer, South Carolina- John “Jack” O’Shea, 89, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Jack was born on January 26, 1932 in Springfield, MA. He was the son of the late John T. and Regina (Crawshaw) O’Shea. Jack graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1949. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Reserves, serving on Active Service during the Korean Conflict. He later graduated from UMASS with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. He dedicated his working life to the insurance industry. He received his certification as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (C.P.C.U.) from the American Institute for Property and Liability Underwriters, Inc. He began his career with Mass Mutual Life Insurance and went on to Glens Falls Insurance Company, Buckeye Union Insurance Company, Citizens Insurance Company, New Hampshire Insurance Company where he was vice president for Commercial Lines Underwriting, and Retired from Ranger Insurance Company as Vice President for Commercial Liability Insurance Underwriting. He was a faithful communicant of catholic churches in each of the places which became home. In his spare time he enjoyed golf, travel and gardening and spending time with his family. He was predeceased by a son Michael P. O’Shea; sisters, Anna Mae Burati, Helen (McDonald) Labroad, Frances Mackenzie, Aunt Mary Agnes O’Shea, a nephew Edward McDonald, a niece Carol Burati. He will be missed by his beloved wife of over 63 years Joyce (Arnold) O’Shea, children Terrence J. O’Shea and his wife Sondra of South Carolina, Timothy J. O’Shea of South Carolina, Maureen E. O’Shea of Michigan, five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Gertrude and her husband John Wagner of Hampden, MA, a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and many dear friends. Calling Hours will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 4pm -7pm at the Forastiere Smith Funeral and Cremation East Longmeadow, MA. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 beginning at 9:45 am at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Longmeadow at 11am Committal services with military honors will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield, MA.
