Joseph Wayne Simpson Sr.

Joseph Wayne Simpson Sr.  passed away surrounded by his loving family; on the same date that he and his wife first met in 1961.  
 
He was born in Roanoke, VA, the only child of the late J . Paul and Josephine K.  Simpson and was a resident of Western Massachusetts for many years. 
 
Joseph was a United States Air Force veteran who served at Westover Air Force Base, Chicopee during the Vietnam War.
 
Prior to his retirement, Joseph was employed by Pratt & Whitney in Information Technology.
 
He enjoyed baseball, ice hockey, Boston Red Sox; most of all the times spent with his loving family.  He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge .
 
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Mary Simpson. He also leaves his children, Wayne Simpson and spouse Michelle, Anna Jo Miranda and spouse Maritza, Scott Simpson Sr. and spouse Brittainy; seven grandchildren, Chloe and her fiancé James, Jessica, Scott Jr and spouse, Marielle, Joshua and fiancée Catie, Lucian, Isabella, Shane; 3 great grandchildren as well as a great grandchild on the way, Carter-Jo, Camden, Brayden; along with nephews and cousins.
 
Family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 AM, Saturday Feb. 11, 2023 at the Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main St. , East Longmeadow. A funeral home service will follow at 10:30 AM. Burial with military honors will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield.
