AGAWAM – Kathleen G. Longo, 79, passed away on July 29, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Agawam, MA on June 29, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Evans) Grimes. A graduate of Agawam High School in 1959, Gail attained a degree in Surgical Technology at STCC. She then worked at Mercy Hospital as a Surgical Technologist for several years. Later, she worked as a Medical Assistant in the office of Dr. Charles Atamian while raising her family. Gail then opened Gail’s Flower Shop in Suffield, CT, eventually returning as a Surgical Technologist at the Family Life Center in Mercy Medical Center, before retiring in 2006. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and taking drives with her husband, Robert. She also loved her dog, Jake. To cherish her memory, Kathleen leaves her loving husband Robert L. Longo of Agawam; her sons Michael Longo and his wife Katherine of Southwick and Robert Longo and his wife Tanya of Springfield; her grandchildren Michael, Jr., Emily, Madison, Paige, Tanner and Riley and her sister Nancy Corliss and her life partner William Schaffel of Agawam. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, August 3, 2020 from 4 – 7 PM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main Street, Agawam. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 beginning at 10:45 AM at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at St. John the Evangelist Church, Main Street, Agawam.
