Madeline Anne Bandarra

Madeline Anne (McGovern) Griffin Bandarra, 73, died Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center with her family by her side. Born in Agawam, MA to the late Thomas Joseph McGovern, Sr. and Madalene Constance (LaFleur) McGovern of Alhambra Circle, she spent her childhood on Alhambra Circle, attending the public schools of Agawam. She brought considerable skill to her work at Mass Mutual, Fortune Consultants and Carlson Real Estate, as well as, to her volunteer work with the Agawam Lioness Club and the Massachusetts Association for the Blind. She brought her greatest skills, however, to her family, especially to her beloved son, Jeremiah “Jay” Griffin, Jr. and her beloved daughter Erin (Griffin) Roy. She will be sorely missed by them and by her extended family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Richard McGovern, and by her husband John Bandarra. Besides her children Jay and Erin, she leaves her brother Thomas McGovern and his wife, Dorothy of Suffield, CT; sister-in-law Carol McGovern of Springfield, MA; sister Constance McGovern and her husband Mario De Pillis of Amherst, MA; nieces and nephews Kathleen and James Lawson of Springfield, MA; Robert and Erin McGovern of Colchester, CT; Daniel McGovern of New Milford, CT; Elizabeth and Michael DeBlieux of West Hartford, CT; Mark and Monica McGovern of Ludlow, MA; Jeffrey and Emily McGovern of Knopp-Labach, Germany; Glenn McGovern of Springfield, MA; and several grand nieces and nephews. She leaves as well, the father of her children, Jeremiah Griffin, Sr. of Chicopee, MA; and loving companion Michael Haynes of Agawam, MA. Calling hours for Madeline will be held from 11AM-1PM on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam with a funeral service beginning at 1PM.
