LONGMEADOW – Maria T. Valenti, 89, entered into eternal rest on July 22, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Sortino, Province of Siracusa, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Vincenza (Tabacco) Buccheri.
Maria was a very talented seamstress and also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, socializing and cooking. She was also a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and loved to pray the Rosary every day.
Besides her parents, Maria was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, Sebastiano Valenti who passed away in January, 2006; her brother Giuseppe Buccheri and her sisters Anita Scibelli and Nivea Dimauro. To cherish her memory, she leaves her daughters Vincenza Valenti & Nivia Valenti both of Longmeadow; her brother Padre Andrea Buccheri of Catania, Sicily; her sister-in-law Nella Buccheri of Sortino, Sicily; her brother-in-law Gioia (Joe) Scibelli of East Longmeadow; her brother-in-law Antonino Valenti of Torino, Italy as well as many nieces and nephews both locally and in Italy.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, July 27, 2020 from 8 – 9 AM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow. Funeral services will begin at 9 AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, William Street, Springfield. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
