Mary C Gentile

Mary Gorgos Gentile passed away peacefully at Heritage Hall East on March 12, 2018. Born in Springfield to Constantine and Thor Gorgos, she was predeceased by her parents and only sibling Iris Pio who passed in July 2017. Mary was a graduate of Commerce High School and was married to Albert James Gentile for nearly 50 years until he passed in 1998.
She is survived by her two loving and devoted daughters, Iris Copson and Donna Anton; also Iris’ sons Lee, Eric and Luke Copson; and Donna’s daughter, Stephanie Kelly. Mary leaves behind eight great-grandchildren: Stephanie’s two sons, Nicholas Anton and Matthew Kelly; Lee and Theresa Copson’s two children, Michael and Gabrielle; Eric Copson’s three daughters, Briana, Maria, and Cassidy; and Luke and Ashley’s daughter Zoey. Nicholas’ son Bryce is her only great-great grandchild. Mary is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her aunt Lona Glassanos.
Mary was an avid golfer and member of Tekoa Country Club for over 40 years. She was employed by Harold Grinspoon at Aspen Realty for many, many years. Her humor and positive outlook always spread laughter and joy to all she met, knew and loved her.
Calling hours will be held at Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation on 985 Main Street in Agawam MA 01001 on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 4:00-7:00pm. On Friday, March 16th Mary’s funeral will begin at 9:00am at the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00am in St. John the Evangelist Church on 833 Main Street in Agawam MA 01001. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Springfield MA 01109. In gratitude, donations may be made to Heritage Hall East, 454 Main Street, Agawam MA 01001.
