Mary M. Gibbs

Westfield – Mary Margaret (Scibelli) Gibbs, 92, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2018. She was reunited in heaven with her husband, Paul who passed in 2010 and her son Paul, Jr., who passed in 2002. She was also pre-deceased by her parents, Andrea and Yolanda (Russo) Scibelli and her 6 siblings, James, John and Salvatore Scibelli, Katie Scibelli, Antoinette DeCasse, Anella Dasso and their spouses. Born on Jan. 10, 1926, she was raised and educated in Springfield and grew up in the South End, where she made many lifelong friends. Always a hard worker, her many jobs included Steiger’s Tea Room, Jaycox Restaurant and McDonald’s in Westfield where she and Paul resided for over 30 years. After retirement, she stayed active volunteering at Noble Hospital and the Westfield Senior Ctr. and enjoyed singing with the “Do Re Mi’s”. Mary happily enjoyed trips to Mohegan Sun Casino and tag sales in the summer and spending time with her many friends. She brought life and energy to everything she did and joy to everyone lucky enough to have known and loved her. She is survived by her 4 cherished children, Andrea (Dennis) Parrott, Paula (Charles) Maak, Michael (Tina) Gibbs and Katie Ann (Alan) LeMaire; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. They are her legacy and the reason her faith and light will continue to shine. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews and her Russo cousins. She will dearly miss them all, along with her 3 ex-daughters-in-law with whom she maintained close relationships. Her family was always the most important thing in the world to her and her kind thoughtful and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. She will be missed beyond all measure. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday March 13th at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, 127 Holyoke Rd., Westfield.
