Obituary

Suffield, Connecticut- Maureen T. Sullivan 82, passed away on February 14, 2021. She was born July 3, 1938 in Springfield, MA daughter of the late Raymond F. and Julia M. (Boyle) Sullivan. Maureen was a deeply loving and kind person who truly lived according to the values of her Catholic faith. She cherished her relationships with her family members, students and friends. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and had a delightful Irish wit which she freely shared with everyone in her life.  She attended Holy Name School-Sisters of St. Joseph Elementary; 1956 graduate Cathedral High School; 1960 graduate of the College of Our Lady of the Elms (BA); and 1972 graduate of Lesley College (MA). 
   In 1960 Maureen began teaching in Springfield, MA. Later she taught 1st and 2nd grade at Bowman Elementary school in Lexington, MA where she proudly earned a teacher of the year award. During her years teaching, she enjoyed participating in a Teacher exchange program in London. In 1999 after 39 years as a teacher, Maureen retired. She spent her remaining years traveling between Florida, Cape Cod, and Belmont. 
   Maureen was very proud to be a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem since 1981. She was a devout Catholic, who was thrilled to experience a Pilgrimage to Jerusalem. 
   She leaves her nieces and nephews, Kathleen and Jim McBryar of Farmington, CT, Karen and Jeff Adams of New Milford, CT, John and Suze Sullivan of Riverview, FL, Laurie Sullivan and George Flanagan of East Longmeadow, MA, Mary Jo Sullivan of Hampden, MA. In addition to family, Maureen leaves many many friendships that she collected, nurtured, and cherished during her lifetime. Maureen was predeceased by her brother, James F. Sullivan; and her oldest nephew, Kevin R. Sullivan. 
   A mass of Christian burial will be held on February 24th at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Church in Springfield followed by a burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Springfield.
