Mildred I. Gomes

Mildred I. Gomes, 84, of East Longmeadow, beloved wife of Antonio Gomes, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center in the presence of family. Born in Springfield, MA on March 19, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Josephine (Swiatowski) Golba. Besides her husband of 60 years, she leaves her loving daughter Cheryl A. Merrill and her husband David of Florida; her brother Stanley Golba of Denver, CO; her nephew Stephen Golba, also of Denver, CO; and her niece Cathy Golba of Florida. Her family will receive friends on Friday, May 19th from 10-11 AM at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Michael’s Church, East Longmeadow. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield. Memorial donations may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
