Obituary

Minnie Jane MacDonald LaLiberte, age 87, long time resident of East Longmeadow, passed away peacefully at Wingate at EL on February 26, 2019 , surrounded by her family.
Minnie was born on in Westfield, MA, April 20th, 1931 to Harold B. And Dorothy Symmes MacDonald of Woronoco, MA. She attended the Westfield School system. She married the late Robert F. LaLiberte, Sr and raised their 7 children in East Longmeadow. She started her career as the head cook at East Longmeadow Nursing home after her kids were grown and continued working there and for a short while at Kid’s Place, until she retired at the age of 78.
Minnie loved to knit, crochet, sew, cook, and host big parties for her family & friends. Minnie also enjoyed hosting her dominoes, dessert, & game parties on Saturday nights, which were always a rollicking good time. She was a well-loved member of the First Congregational Church in EL and belonged to the Martha Ruth group and other women’s group as well.
In addition to her parents and husband, Minnie was pre-deceased by her beloved daughter, Jane L. Butler, sons Louis F. and Harold B. LaLiberte, her grandson Dillon Creighton as well as her sisters, Jean Curro, Hilda Carpenter, Eleanor Ducharme, and Brother Robert MacDonald.
Minnie is survived by her daughter, Susan Creighton & husband Michael of Brookfield, MA, sons Robert LaLiberte, Jr., Donald LaLiberte of Winter Spring, FL, David M. LaLiberte & partner Janet Edwards of Springfield, MA, and Daughter-in-Law, Heather Harris LaLiberte of Enfield, CT. She is survived by 11 grandchildren, Nick Butler, Jason & Rob LaLiberte, Harley & Orrin Creighton, Megan & Justin LaLiberte, Elizabeth L. Borek & Olivia LaLiberte, Emily LaLiberte, and Jean Luc LaLiberte as well as 9 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews as well. Her surviving siblings are Beatrice Menes, Illinois, Jeanette Fish, Ludlow MA, James MacDonald, Palmer, MA, and Harold MacDonald & wife Judie of San Jose, Ca.
Minnie was a kind, cheerful, and loving mother and friend. She will be missed by her besties, Myra Knorr & Kathy Hathaway and the many family & friends who loved her. Godspeed Minnie Jane. There will no doubt, be a party in Heaven to greet you!
Minnie’s family would like to thank Spectrum Hospice, especially Nurse Alena for your kind, compassionate care of Minnie, as well as the staff of Wingate of East Longmeadow and the Reserve at East Longmeadow.
