Obituary

Nancy Lee Fournier was called home to God on January 14, 2022. Born on June 18, 1941 in Ware, Massachusetts, she grew up in the Springfield area and joined the United States Army in December,1960. She was trained in data processing at Fort Benjamin in Harrison, Indiana, then stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. After her Honorable Discharge in 1963, she began her career with IBM as a Key-punch operator.
Over the next 10 years, she worked for several companies as a computer operator supervisor and data processing supervisor before being employed at Mass Mutual in 1974 as a computer operator where she worked until her retirement in 1999.
Her two main passions were the New England Patriots and being active with veteran groups including the American Legion 277 Auxiliary in Indian Orchard, MA (past president), VFW 9397 Auxiliary, Hampden, MA (past president), and Sons of the Union Veterans Auxiliary, Springfield, MA and CT (past president and past district president). She was also a member of Moose Chapter Lodge 1489 in Chicopee, MA.
She enjoyed a rich life with her family and friends, welcoming everyone into her life and home. She was a beautiful example of caring, empathy, living with her whole heart, generosity with all she had, and a whole lot of sass!
She is preceded in death by her parents, Junita Cassady and Francis Fournier,Sr and her brother Francis “Butch” Fournier, Jr.
She is survived by her niece, Melissa Louwers and her sons Aiden and Jordan; her nephews, Jeffery Fournier (Jennifer) and their sons Jordan and Jaxon, Aaron Fournier and Francis “T-Rey” Fournier III; her sister-in-law Marlene Boudreaux (Barry); her chosen family including but not limited to her “Angel and Best Friend” Mary Ellen Sieffert, “Football” Mary Ellen Meunier, Linda Cramer, Dee Chavez, Charlie and Rachel Vilakis, Mickey Belden, and the Whole Grondin family- she loved being their Mantante Nancy.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 4-7 PM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 985 Main Street, Agawam. A service officiated by Deacon Normand Grondin will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 9 AM at the funeral home followed by committal services and military honors at 10 AM at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam.
