Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - Nivea (Buccheri) Dimauro, 95, passed away on May 29, 2019 at CareOne at Redstone in East Longmeadow. Born in Sortino, Sicily, Italy on August 1, 1923 to the late Luigi and Vincenza (Tabacco) Buccheri, she was educated in Italy. She was most recently a Seamstress at Miss Kerby Clothing of Springfield and worked as a Seamstress for 24 years before retiring in 1992. She loved to cook for her family and anyone that came into her house.  She always stressed family first and her love for God was limitless. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Sebastiano “Robbie” Dimauro who passed away in December, 1987; her grandson Justin Dimauro in 2000; her brother Peppino Buccheri and her sister Anita Scibelli. To cherish her memory, Nivea leaves her sons Sebastian R. Dimauro, Jr. and his wife Carol of Southampton and Louis A. Dimauro and his wife Laura of Longmeadow; grandchildren Sam Dimauro, Christina Dimauro Franczek, Susan Callahan and Andrea Dimauro; great grandchildren Amelia Callahan, Anna Dimauro, Adelina Franczek, Theodore Franczek and Charlotte Callahan; her brother Padre Andrea Buccheri and her sister Maria Valenti. She also leaves many loving nieces, nephews and cousins, both here in America and in Sicily. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at CareOne at Redstone for their loving and compassionate care of Nivea. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 3-7 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220  North Main Street, East Longmeadow. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 beginning at 8:45 AM at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Nivea’s name may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Endowment Fund, 123 William St. Springfield, MA 01105.
