Rachelle Moreau

Rachelle Moreau, 95, entered into eternal rest on Thursday June 3rd surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 6th 1926 in East Hereford, Quebec, one of 17 children to the late Omer and Celina Guay.

Rachelle worked for many years as a Seamstress and Caregiver at Chestnut Knoll in Springfield. She was a member of the Springfield Golden Agers and St. Catherine’s Women’s Guild. Rachelle also enjoyed card games, archery, square dancing, knitting and crochet. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rudolph in 1991, and 15 of her siblings. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and will be missed dearly by them all.

She leaves her four loving children: Edmond Moreau and his wife Georgann, Susan Verteramo and her husband David, Donald Moreau and his partner Patty Lacroix, and David Moreau and his wife Diana. She also leaves her sister Leona Berube and her husband Edgar, as well as eight grandchildren; Pamela Moreau, Julie Moreau, Gregory Moreau, Nicole Galcenski, Marcus Verteramo, Adam Moreau, Shelley McAvoy, DJ Moreau, and fourteen great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to the Forasitere Smith Funeral Home at 220 North Main St from 8:30am-10:30am on Tuesday June 8th for a period of visitation. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 11am at St. Michael’s Church in East Longmeadow. She will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are respectfully asked to be made to the Shriners Hospital in Springfield.
