1924-2017
East Longmeadow- Raymond A. Paquin, 92, beloved husband of 70 years to Minnie (Oliver) Paquin, passed away on February 13, 2017. He was born in Providence, RI, a son of the late Joseph and Agnes B. (Godin) Paquin. An East Longmeadow resident, he was the founder of Thermal Structures of East Longmeadow, member of the East Longmeadow Rotary Club, past member of the East Longmeadow Chamber of Commerce, past President of Elmcrest Country Club, founder and past President of International Association of Cold Storage Contractors, a life member of the Springfield Lodge of Elks, member of the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouse. He enjoyed many winters in Naples, Florida. Raymond was also a World War II veteran Pacific Theater Seabees CBMO 572. In addition to his wife, Raymond is survived by a son Jeffrey Paquin, Sr. and his wife Donna, of West Springfield, MA, 8 grandchildren , 5 great grandchildren, a brother, Donald Paquin of Riverside, RI; a sister, Claire Sherman of N. Kingston, RI; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 8:45AM, on Saturday February 18,2017 from the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow; followed by a 10:00 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial, in St. Michael’s Church, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow. Burial at a later date. Calling hours will be held from 5:00PM – 7:00PM on Friday February 17,2017 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 200 Ivy St., Brookline, MA 02446, Disabled American Veterans, 425 Union St., West Springfield, MA 01089; or to the East Longmeadow Rotary Club Scholarship Fund, P.O. 571, East Longmeadow, MA 01028-0571.
