WILBRAHAM- Richard “Dick” J. Murphy, 80, passed away on March 7, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield, he was a graduate of Cathedral High School. Dick was a resident of Wilbraham for the past 40 years. He was an avid N.E. sports fan and loved playing hockey and golf. He was stationed in Germany, during the Vietnam War, serving in the Air force. Prior to his retirement Dick had been employed as a Salesman/District Manager for Stateline Potato Chips, as well as a salesman at many auto dealerships. He leaves his beloved wife of 60 years, Anna C. (Tancredi) Murphy, 3 sons, Richard J. Murphy Jr. , John F. Murphy and his wife Karen, David M. Murphy; 2 grandchildren, Daniel J. and Christopher R. Murphy. He was predeceased by his parents, and his brother Francis V. Murphy Jr. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 PM, on Wednesday at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Funeral services for Dick begin at 10:15AM on Thursday from the funeral home, with an 11:30AM funeral mass offered at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Springfield.
