East Longmeadow- Richard A. Shurtleff 87, passed away on Sunday June 6, 2021 at Bluebird Estates, East Longmeadow. He was the husband of the late Mary Ann (Meisner) Shurtleff. Richard was born in Boston on January 14, 1934, a son to the late Harold and Aldina (Ferrari) Shurtleff. Richard served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Richard was a teacher for many years and Assistant Superintendent of East Longmeadow Schools until 1984. He then bought and ran a business, “Computer Tots” with his wife Mary Ann which was education software and teaching to young children in schools in and around the Boston area. Richard retired in 1996 and moved to Wolfeboro, NH where he lived until his wife passed away in 2016 and then he came back to East Longmeadow where he stayed his remaining years. In addition to his parents, and his wife , Richard was predeceased by his brother, Harold Shurtleff. Richard is survived by two sons, Jeremy Shurtleff and his wife Jamie Lynn, Ronald Shurtleff; 5 grandchildren, Mackenzie Shurtleff , Isabella Shurtleff, Nicholas Shurtleff, Kate Shurtleff, Megan Shurtleff. Private services will be held in New Hampshire State Veterans’ Cemetery, Boscawen, NH . In lieu of flowers donations may be made to:It's My Heart - New England Chapter, Inc.
