Rita E. Maruca

Springfield- Rita E. (Reno) Maruca, 94, passed away on September 30, 2018.

Born and educated in Worcester, MA on August 5, 1924 she was a daughter of the late Santo and Rosa (Scola) Reno. The last of ten children, Rita was predeceased by her siblings, Mary, Carmella, Frank, Emily, Anna, Joe, Raymond, Robert and Pauline.

Rita was the devoted wife of the late David Maruca, who preceded her on September 8, 1993. A resident of Springfield for over 70 years, she was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Her love of children, provided with Rita’s mission in life to be a teacher’s aide in private preschools in the Springfield area. Rita is survived by her children, a son, Joseph Maruca; a daughter and husband, Lynn and William Milar all of Springfield. Rita was the adoring grand mother to her 3 grandchildren, James Maruca and wife Jessica,Daniel Maruca and wife Dian,

 Desiree Milar. She was the cherished great grandmother to Molly Rose Maruca and Finnegan Clark Maruca. Rita also leaves numerous cherished nieces and nephews.  The family will gather and receive friends from 8:00AM – 9:00AM on Friday (October 5, 2018) in the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow. Funeral services will begin at 9:00AM in the funeral home.

A  Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 123 William St., Springfield. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield.
