Robert “Bob” L. Loomis Sr.
Robert “Bob” L. Loomis Sr., 92, passed away at home on September 4, 2018. He was born June 30, 1926 in Springfield, the son of the late Howard and Beatrice (Killam) Loomis and he was a lifelong resident. Robert was the loving brother to the late Marjorie Taylor and Shirley Houghton.
Robert honorably served his country during WW II in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theater. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a finish carpenter for several companies including O.J. Gallant, Frank Stein and Sons, and Doane and Williams. Bob enjoyed golfing, all kinds of home improvement projects, and spending time with family.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 65 years, Mary (Desrosiers). He also leaves his beloved children, Donna Pelczarski (David) of Chicopee, William Loomis (Julie) of Wilbraham, and Robert Loomis Jr. of Springfield; six cherished grandchildren, Laura Dutko (Brian), Kara McDonald (Bradford), Julia Gurney (Henry), Scott Loomis, Daniel Loomis, Allison Loomis; and a great grandchild Ethan Dutko.
The family would like to thank Dr. Volodymyr Labinskyy for tremendously improving the quality of life for Bob over the past two years.
Funeral Services will be held at 9:30AM on Monday (September 10, 2018) at the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Burial with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM-5:00PM on Sunday (September 9, 2018) in the funeral home.
