1941 - 2019

Robert “Bob” B. Puzzo passed away peacefully on April 25, 2019 surrounded by his family at Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven, CT.  He was born to the late William and Lauretta (Delano) Puzzo on April 6, 1941 in Springfield MA.   He graduated from Technical High School in the Class of 1960.  Bob served his country in the United States Army as an artillery team member with his brother, Richard, in Germany.  While in the Army, Bob graduated from the Noncommissioned Officers Academy.  Upon returning to civilian life, he attended and graduated from Western New England University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1969.  While being employed by the United States Treasury Department, he furthered his education with a Masters of Science in Accounting and Taxation from the University of Hartford in 1983.  The Department of the Treasury awarded Bob the coveted Albert Gallatin Award for his public service.  He retired after 39 years.  He was a communicant of Holy Cross Church of Springfield.  Bob was President, on the Board of Directors and a member of the Springfield Tennis club at Forest Park and enjoyed the years that he coached the East Longmeadow High School Boys’ Tennis team.  His love of life over the years included owning a horse, racing his 27 ft. sailboat, “Double Trouble,” harbored in Mystic, CT, playing team tennis, driving his prize winning 1972 Ford LTD Brougham and last but not least riding his 1983 Harley.  As he put it best, he generally chased life fervently!   Bob’s greatest love was being there for his family.  His children were the pride of his life, and he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.  Bob dealt with many of life’s adversities but that never distracted from his love for his children, his grandchildren and those close to him. He will be remembered fondly for his smile, sense of humor, acts of kindness and generous and loving heart.  Bob will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Kathy (Cox) Puzzo; his children, Audrey Atwood (John), Stephen (Nicole); his four grandchildren, Dashiell Atwood, Osmyn Atwood, Chloe Puzzo and Stella Puzzo; his older brother, William Puzzo (Joyce); his twin brother, Richard Puzzo (Dagmar) and his nieces and nephews.  Bob was predeceased by his first wife and the mother of his children, Kathleen (Sullivan) Puzzo and his faithful companion of 15 years, Anita Heino in 2013.  Services will be private.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Dakin Humane Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
