1951 – 2023

Roberta (Nowack) Guthrie will be remembered for the unbelievable example of hard work, perseverance, resilience, kindness, and her love. She had a 13-year dance with cancer; where it sometimes led her, and sometimes she led – but the music ultimately stopped on Saturday, January 28, 2023. Her work ethic was immeasurable, she never called out sick, always being present, even while undergoing intensive, and often debilitating treatment. She was dedicated to Baystate Dental for many years. She loved her cats, going out for meals with her wonderful group of friends, watching her favorite television shows, the simple things in life that brought her daily joy. However, her greatest love was her family. She relished in being a grandmother and cherished spending quality time with her son, daughter-in-law, two grandsons and their extended family.

Born in New York, NY, Roberta spent most of her life in Springfield. She was the daughter of the late Myrtle (Rose) and John Nowack. She is survived by her devoted son, Luke Guthrie and his wife Angela Nunez of Alexandria VA; her two adored grandsons, Mateo and Cristian; her daughter-in-law’s parents, with whom she formed a special bond, Angel and Mary Nunez; her siblings: Brett Nowack, Halcy Nowack, and Jill Keohane. Besides her parents, Roberta was predeceased by her brother William Nowack in 1991.

A celebration of life will be shared with friends and family on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 6:00-8:00pm at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation on 220 North Main Street in East Longmeadow.
