April 16, 1942 ~ October 9, 2021 (age 79) 79 Years Old
Theresa Guarna | 1942-2021 AGAWAM- Theresa/Tessie (Muia) Guarna 79, beloved wife of the late Ugo Guarna, passed away on October 9, 2021. Born in Springfield, she was a daughter of the late Carmelo and Immacolata (Petrolo) Muia. She was a graduate of the High School of Commerce and held many positions in the Springfield area as a bookkeeper. Later, she and Ugo owned “Ugo’s,” a men’s clothing store in East Longmeadow, and were generous donors to their community. Tessie adored Elvis Presley's music and movies and she loved to dance. She was passionate about dogs, cooking, and baking, and especially enjoyed preparing meals and desserts during the holidays. Above all, she loved her family and friends dearly and completely.
She is survived by her daughter Anna and her husband Steven and their son Calder; her son Dominick and his wife Brenda, of Colebrook, CT, and their children Brittany & Jesse Schultz, Joshua & Jessica Guarna, Zachary Guarna and great-grandson Lucas Schultz; her nieces Terry Piccolo and Karen Favereaux and her nephew Frank Salerno as well as their families, her niece and nephews and their families in Italy, many cousins and many friends. For the last eight years, Tessie resided at the Heritage Woods Assisted Living facility in Agawam, where she met and was cared for a loving community of friends and staff. Due to Covid, the family will be holding a private graveside burial in Connecticut. Viewing hours will be held without the family present on Thursday, October 21 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at the Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 985 Main St., Agawam. for those who would like to say good-bye. A celebration of Tessie’s life is planned for Saturday, April 23, 2022, including a memorial mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church or to the Dakin Animal Shelter.
