Vincent Anthony Festa

Springfield – Vincent “Vinnie” A. Festa, 93, a lifelong resident of Springfield; passed away peacefully Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center. Born June 17, 1925 in Springfield; he was a son to the late Lorenzo and Anna (Cervione) Festa. He attended Armory Street School, Van Sickle Jr. High, Springfield Technical High School, and then Western New England College, majoring in accounting. He then attended Blackstone School of Law and Dale Carnegie for further his accounting background. Vinnie was employed as Branch Store Manager with Forbes & Wallace from 1948-74, and later was Tax Supervisor from 1974-90 with the Massachusetts Dept. of Revenue, retiring in 1990. His list of civic and political accomplishments was impressive. He was a member of the Springfield Republican City Committee for over 55 years where he served as Treasurer, Director of the Springfield Junior Chamber of Commerce for 12 years, was the Springfield Election Commissioner for over 33 years, was a Life Member of the Springfield Elks Lodge, and was a notary public for several years. He also received the Dr. Anthony Brown Fruits of Labor Award in 2003 and the Western MA Republicans Calvin Coolidge Award in 2005. He displayed a deep faith, and was a communicant of Holy Cross Church in Springfield and St. Michael’s Church in East Longmeadow for countless years. Vinnie is survived by his daughter Laurie N. Festa of Springfield, MA; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Norma N. (Nystrom) Festa; and sister Rita Festa Steven. Funeral services for Vinnie will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 beginning at 8:45AM from Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., East Longmeadow with a Mass of Christian Burial, to be celebrated at 10AM, from St. Patrick’s Church, (Due to construction at Holy Cross) 1900 Allen St., Springfield, MA. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, East Longmeadow. Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 7th from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
