Obituary

Springfield – Vincenza “Virginia” (D’Ascoli) Liberti, 94, died on Friday February 3, 2023 at home with her family by her side.
The Matriarch of the Liberti family. She was born in Bracigliano Italy on January 1, 1929 to the late Giuseppe and Anna (Moccia) D’Ascoli. She was the oldest of 6 children.
Her husband John, saw Vincenza’s picture and said I want to marry this girl. John traveled to Italy, and after 15 days, John and Vincenza had a traditional wedding in Bracigliano, walking to the church with family and friends. They settled in Springfield MA, and Vincenza found a place to call home (Wendell Place) that she never left till her last day. She absolutely loved the South End.
A true Italian women, Vincenza saw her family as the most important thing in her life, and she always cooked large meals every Sunday and at Holidays in her home. She lived at her home in Springfield for 70 years, and she took pride in keeping it neat and tidy. She loved to sew as well as get her hands dirty in her yard and garden. Her favorite pastry was the Sfogliatelle, which she looked forward to every weekend. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Vincenza was able to stay at home (which was her wish) when her health declined because of the amazing care of her granddaughter Kristina. Kristina moved in with her Noni, and for over 20 years they shared a bond of care and compassion, and Kristina always made sure Vincenza was well-cared for and loved.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Elizabeth Boyle for all of her years of care for Vincenza.
She is survived by her daughter Jeannie D’Agostino, her sons John Liberti (Terri) and Anthony Liberti (Nicole), her grandchildren, Kristina Liberti, Frank D’Agostino (Katie Villamaino), Joey Liberti (Monica), Michelle Williams, Gianna Liberti and Johnny Liberti, her great-grandchildren Giabella and Enza, her siblings Olympia Daniele, Lily Anzalotti, and Pasquale D’Ascoli (Gilda), her great-grand dogs Zima, Nina, Belle, Priscilla, Mocha, Latte, Wynter and Willow, her “adopted” daughter Annemarie Karwoski, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
