Westfield – Shirley M. “Silver Fox” Saracino, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Country Estates in Agawam. Born in Agawam, she was a daughter to the late Peter and Erminia (Dafunchio) Mutti. She married her high school sweetheart Raymond Saracino. She worked as a private executive secretary to the CEO of Monarch Insurance for five years before she made the best career change, when she and Ray decided to have three beautiful children together. Shirley adored her children and was most proud to be a loving mother, noni and caring wife. She was a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield. Besides taking care of her children, Shirley enjoyed golf and bocce, and was an excellent candlepin bowler. Her patience, easy going personality, and outpouring love for her family will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her adored husband of 58 years, Raymond Saracino; her two daughters, Laurie Bonavita and her husband Anthony of Westfield, Regina D’Amato and her husband Anthony of Chester MA; her son, Peter Saracino and his wife Jennifer of North Haven CT; and six grandchildren: PJ and Shealin Saracino, Joseph and Angela Bonavita, Elizabeth D’Amato, and Daniel and Denitsa D’Amato. Besides her parents, Shirley is predeceased by her brother Lawrence “Ace” Mutti and her sister Sophie MaKechnie.
Visiting hours for Shirley will be on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 4:00-7:00pm at Southwick Forastiere Funeral & Cremation on 624 College Highway in Southwick. The funeral will begin on Tuesday, February 28th at 8:30am from the funeral home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Springfield Street Cemetery in Feeding Hills. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in Shirley’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association-MA Chapter, 480 Pleasant St, Watertown MA 02472 or to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, New York NY 10018.
